NOTEBOOKS

My notebooks date back many years, and provide starting points for much of my work. I gather photographs, sketches, and experimental work, while developing an idea or project. In this way an initial project may evolve in surprising ways. The process may lead to a final image, or will provide ideas and visual references for future work. The colours, patterns and textures in landscapes are frequent sources of inspiration for me. I also reference the work of other artists, and sometimes use word associations to create images. My notebooks are both a record of my journey as an artist, and a constant source of reference for me. Here is a very small selection of pages.
